The short version
Your work stays yours.
Lorelai is a desktop app. It does not upload your projects, send telemetry, create an account, or phone home. The website is a different thing: it uses privacy-friendly analytics, and buying a license naturally involves a payment and an email.
The app
Nothing leaves the app.
Your projects and their history stay on your computer. Lorelai does not collect usage data or send your project files to us. If you choose to buy Lorelai, the app opens your browser; the purchase happens on the website, not inside the app.
The website
A small, cookie-free measure of what helps.
We use Plausible Analytics on this website to understand broad patterns such as which pages are useful. Its standard analytics script does not set cookies or build a persistent profile of you. Plausible is not used in the desktop app.
After Stripe returns you to the purchase-completion page, it removes a short-lived purchase-return capability from the visible URL as soon as it loads and keeps it in session storage for that browser tab. It is cleared when that browser session ends. That page does not load Plausible. Stripe Checkout is a separate service and may use its own cookies under Stripe’s privacy policy.
Buying and receiving a license
Just enough information to make the purchase work.
Stripe handles payment.
Checkout is hosted by Stripe. Card details go to Stripe, not to Lorelai’s website or desktop app.
We issue a named license.
We use the name and email supplied at checkout to issue and deliver your license. The license name is part of the signed license file.
Postmark delivers the link.
We use Postmark for transactional license email. Open and link tracking are switched off for these messages.
Lorelai has no customer-account system and the license issuer does not keep its own purchase database. Stripe keeps the purchase records needed to process payments; Postmark processes delivery email under its own privacy policy. These providers may process information outside the UK; their own policies explain that processing.
Support and recovery
Help should not become a data grab.
If you ask for support, we receive what you send us. If you use license recovery, we use the email address you enter to look for eligible purchases and send any available replacement links. The page gives the same confirmation either way, so it does not reveal whether an email address matches a purchase.
We use purchase and delivery information to perform our contract with you; we retain information needed for tax or accounting where the law requires it; and we use limited technical request information, such as an IP address, to keep the website secure and apply rate limits. Sensitive purchase, recovery, and download routes are configured without access logging. We do not use this information for advertising.
We keep information only for as long as needed for those purposes: to provide the service, handle support, keep the business secure, and meet legal or accounting obligations.
